The Vandoren catalog says this of the B45: "Same sound qualities as the B44 with a larger tip opening. Very responsive."
The box says: "Particularly suited for players preferring a wider tip opening."
I think that is translated from the French: "Memes caracteristiques que le B44. Bec un peu plus ouvert." I translate the last sentence to say, "Beak [mouthpiece] a little more open." That seems to have a different meaning. At least that's what I think.

Vandoren recommends 2.5 - 3.5 strength reeds for this B45 mouthpiece. They recommend 3.0 - 4.0 reeds for the B44.
