Brilhart Tonalin
Adapted for C-Melody Sax

Originally a #2 facing , now opened up to 0.077"
with a somewhat longer facing curve.
5-digit serial number - 23658

SOLD - AUGUST 2010

This mouthpiece is a Tenor Tonalin that was professionally adjusted to be used with any C-Melody, and is short enough to use with a Conn Micro-Tuner Neck.
It has the correct facing length and volume for good intonation, but with a more modern tip opening (0.077") than original C-Melody mouthpieces.
Because it's a Tonalin, it has the warm, rich, 50's -style tone that these mouthpieces are known for, with plenty of volume if needed.
My understanding is that with the Brilhart facing numbering system, the facings with 'stars' ( 2*, 3*, 4*, etc.) had the shorter facing curve...
While the 2, 3, 4, etc. numbers have the longer facing curve.
The longer facing curve favors a lush bottom end.
This Tonalin a good match for the smaller body tube and lyrical qualities of the C-Melody.
It uses a standard Tenor reed and ligature

A small chip in tip has been professionally repaired.

There were some stress fractures in the shank, but the fractures were epoxied and the shank was banded before any could develop into a crack.

There are three pictures of the Tonalin at the bottom on a lovely Buescher C-Mel that is for sale elsewhere on this website.

Brilhart Tonalin Tenor Mpc.
